Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Same reason as my other review, I bought this axle in replacement of my old worn torn axle. The old axle had a busted boot and grease shot out everywhere under the wheel well and rims. After trying to source a good quality and cheap axle, i ended up going with these ToughOne brands. I honestly like them for its price. I changed them around the same time I did my engine swap. So far so good, but i'm hearing a light click every now and then, but nothing major. Would i buy them again, yes. They are kinda tricky to remove and install. But overall great product! Just make sure you have the axel nut socket if you plan on doing it yourself, and ball joint removal too!!!!

I bought these online to replace the ones i had on my accord (207k) because i would get a vibration/shaking when i accelerated

I gave them to my mechanic and he installed them without a hitch. He had no complaints about fitting or anything. So i would say they are great for replacing your OEM defective ones.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

For starters, it's a new part, and that's worth something, as re-build CV/axle assemblies can have particular issues. However, this axle came with the inner-joint boot affixed a little bit too far towards the inner joint. This was readily apparent as I looked at the assembly, so I'd imagine that the QC on these parts involves a little bit of "that'll do". But, to be honest, provided it doesn't fly apart on me, for the price - it will, in fact, do.

However, the inner-joint splines on these axles (both of the ones I bought) were EXTREMELY tight fits to the transmission. The OEM axles would slide in up to the circlip, then a good sharp push would get the clip to engage and the spline would slide home. These required repeated impacts to slide all the way in - either by using the axle as a slide hammer or by compressing the whole thing and having a helper give some pops with a rubber mallet to the outboard end. They did install, and they are working fine so far, but be aware that this could happen.
