            • Q:

I just installed a new Carquest front left drive axle. The transmission will not engage. It is leaking transmission fluid. I am wondering if the axle is not quite long enough. It seemed like the axle went all the way into the transmission housing. Any ideas as to what is wrong?
Asked on 5/14/2016 by Bob from Colorado springs, CO

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

Hi Bob! I think the seal may be damaged by a poor surface finish on the axle shaft. But, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it, nor provide you with a 100% answer. I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

Hi Ngagne! Since you didn't mention the specific vehicle, it's hard to tell for sure. To give you the correct information I would need the year, make, model and engine size of the vehicle.
