Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

This axle shouldnt even be sold. Almost caused me to get into an accident when it broke on me a week and a half after installing it. Not only is this axle very weak it doesnt even fit right. The nut is too wide not allowing the cotter pin back in the slots. I would not recommend this axle to anyone with an srt4. Buy OEM! the cheap price of this axle is not worth the time and money to replace it 3 times in a month. Ive learned my lesson and this is the last time i will buy "certain" aftermarket parts for my car.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

I reluctantly purchased this passenger side axle because it was new, not refurbished, disregarding the other negative reviews here. I figured I'd give it a shot anyway since I didn't want to spend more than twice as much on the OEM, and I couldn't wait for the autozone version. When I got the axle home and opened up the box, I noticed that the clamp that holds the small end of the cv boot wasn't completely on the rubber. The rubber was pulling under the clamp. I took it back to Advance and they replaced the clamp for free. Good customer service, just poor quality control on the axle.

The install went just fine until the very end when I was attaching the outside nut to connect the hub to the axle. The nut they provided with the axle was much too wide and, after examining the driver's side, the threaded end too short to fit the cotter pin back in. Luckily the OEM nut was thinner so using the old one, I was able to get the cotter pin back in.

It's been 2 days and the axle is working just fine. I'll update this if that changes. If I were to do it again, I'd buy a different one.

Easy install, light weight, but horrifying quality. I had broken 2 of these axles in 6 months 2500 miles and cost me 3 weeks down time.
