My original OEM axle's outer boot got nicked and began spewing out that very smelly, toxic, coat everything, grease. I originally intended to just replace the boot, but with discount codes I found online this brand new ENTIRE axle wasn't that much more expensive than just doing a boot! HOWEVER: I have three things that annoy me about this axle. The first is that my car does NOT have ABS, but the new axle came with the ABS tone ring installed. You must remove this "with a hammer and a punch" according to a big sign inside the box. Not cool hammering and bashing a new part just a few inches from the vulnerable boot. Make it an option and / or a different part number to include that ABS ring! The second is the OEM axle AND the picture on the website shows a vibration damper. The new one didn't come with a damper BUT there's yet another piece of paper in the box saying "it's not important". If Mopar AND the picture show it, it MUST be important. I didn't notice this until I had the OEM axle out, so it was too late at that point to turn back. The third is the outer boot on the new axle is kinda bending inward on one of the creases, this makes me not trust it in the long run. For a 100% brand new axle, these three things just make me feel uneasy.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

I purchased both left and right CV joints for my 2006 caravan.
At first they were great, but at 5000 miles I got a shudder at 35 and 45 MPH.
At 10000 miles the vibrations were terrible. I put one of my old cv's (Pass side) back on and most of the vibrations went away. I put the other old one (drivers side) back on and it was smooth as silk.
I don't like giving bad reviews, but these will not last. Not just one, both went bad.

have to say i think the outer boot got ripped when my daughter was having a rack and pinon unit replaced by a mech,so cant really blame it on the part it was 1.5 yrs old, she did have the other side cv joint break at the outer joint after only 7 months of use, advance did replace it with no problem so guess we cant complain to bad alot cheaper the dodge dealer prices so time will tell

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Installation was easy, did have some trouble getting the CV shaft in the transmission. Hopefully I did not damage the seal, only time will tell. The area where the seal contacts the CV housing was not polished on the drivers side unit. The passenger side CV I purchased was polished correctly. After installation my tiny plastic hub cap would not seat flush. Seems the CV shaft was 1/8" to long. Now I have to grind the end of the shaft. It did have issues, but the price was great.

The casting of the inner joint is not the same as the oem. There is nothing to hook on to push/pull the snap ring in to place. The part is so poorly machined that the inner driver would not slide right out of the box

I was wondering why this new aftermarket driver side (Left) CV Shaft, doesn't have a vibration dampener attached to it? The one I received in the box doesn't exactly match the picture, but fits and operates normally. As of yet, I haven't driven it under all speed conditions, so I cannot say whether or not there will be a vibration at a steady highway speed.

I'm happy to help, Bill! The images on the website are normally representative of the product and may not match exactly. The fit and function are still correct for the vehicle application. Many times the aftermarket manufacturers are able to improve upon the original equipment design and eliminate additional parts from the design if they are unnecessary to achieve proper function.
