Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

I installed this on a 2004 Dodge Dakota the removal required removing the upper ball joint to get the clearance to remove the old part. It also required a slide hammer to remove the old CV axel. Once it came off installing the new one was a 5 minute job. The stock CV axle had a piece that extended out to prevent debris from getting in the bearing. I'm not sure if this will be a problem down the road but we will see. The install also required a new upper ball joint because the boot ripped during removal. Over all this took project about 2 hours to replace and cost about $100.00.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Upset at the fact that a part was missing, the round metal seal at the end of the shaft to will help protect the back of the wheel bearing. You have to get it from the dealer. Other brand's of CV shafts offer this seal with their product. Not this one!

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

The rubber boots were not as heavy as the originals, but may hold up just as well. I had to use the original nut since the new nut did not work with the cotter pin. Only have 100 miles on it. So far, so good.
