New, not rebuilt. Exact fit/replacement. Only thing to watch are the CV boots. The OEM unit had 7-8 bellows on each boot. This replacement only has 3 on each boot. During installation the boots dimpled as they were handled. I had to work with each one for a few minutes to get the indentions out and back to the normal bellows shape. They may have done this on their own but I didn't want to take a chance. Otherwise AOK. Good warranty at 3 years VS 1 year for the rebuilt axles.

What junk! I have replaced several drive shafts in several front wheel drive cars, so I am no rookie. After going through the trouble of replacing the axle in my teenage son's car, the new one bound up in a week and was much worse than the one I took out. Seriously, it was dangerous. Do not buy this! I would have given no stars if it would have let me.

Comments about ToughOne New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Installed this axle on a 2000 chevy venture in June 2013, outer joint leaking grease and clicking in June 2014. Boot doesn't have enough bellows to flex properly, and the material is too stiff.

Comments about ToughOne New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Per the description, the CV axles were described to be an exact fit for my 2001 Buick Century Custom. I took the old OE CV axles out and put the new "exact fit" axles in. However, the new "exact fit" ones didn't fit snugly like the original axles did; on either side. There was a very slight tolerance difference that allowed the axles to make make a very slight movement and thus a clunking-type noise when the car was driven. I removed the new "exact fit" CV axles, put the old OE axles back in. The old axles fit snugly and the clunking-type noise stopped when the car was driven. Ended up buying new CV axles from different distributor; they cost more but they fit perfectly. Returning them was easy as the staff was highly professional. The car subsequently drives fine with no noises.

Comments about ToughOne New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Considering that my 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP was having MAJOR suspension issues, this axle has been one of the two items to fix my issues suspension wise and bring the car back to the point it was at before! :D .. It took me about a day to do the whole job of replacing the axle and wheel bearing from start to finish including breaks because of heat and excessive sweat. Other than that, I haven't had any problems with this part and so far seems to have fixed my problems. My car is once again SAFE for the road!

Comments about ToughOne New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

This product was extremely hard to get to snap into the transmission. For the average person installing one of these that is a big problem. If you don't get the axle snapped into the transmission properly the axle can come out and you will loose your transmission fluid plus it will vibrate is you are at a high speed and it can easily break something, not to mention tear up the new seal you installed before putting the axle in the transmission. I would not recommend this product to the average person because of the difficulty of installation.

Bought this part on April 13th, 2013. Replaced part on passenger side the next day, and by today, the 21st, I hear lots of clicking coming from that side when turning. In my opinion, this is junk and I will be replacing it with something else. Very upset as I'm going to be spending another day taking this thing out.

Installed this CV axle in April and the boot started shooting grease all over come September. Now it looks to be starting to run dry and makes noise when making left turns. I will be returning it and looking for a better manufacturer than GSP.

I replaced the Driver side CV axle on my 2000 Chevy venture with this one. I was sure it was done correctly but the end that inserts into the tramsition come out about 1 to 2 inches while dirving it and it lost all the trans fluid.... i put / pushed the axle back in and refilled the trans fluid but its leaking. Just like when I 1st put it in, I checked by tugging on it to make sure the retaining clip was clicked in. My mechanic says I should replace the axle again and the seal..... Does the seal come with this part or need to be purchased seperately? also, since the axle came out... should I take it back out and get it exchanged.... sounds like the retaining clip is faulty if it was able to come back out.

For help with your project, I recommend getting a repair manual specifically for your vehicle. It should be able to help you with detailed instructions on how to do many things.

put a small crow bar type bar with a curved end between the trans and back of cv shaft. Put pressure against the bar and give ot a bit of a whack with your hand ( not a hammer)it will just pop off. Try to brace the bar against a beefy part of trans. To put back on just line up splines and give it a sharp push and it pops back on.
