Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Everything is fine except the design makes it impossible to tighten 3 bolts as you don't have enough clearance to get a socket on them the housing is larger in these 3 spots!
If they just gave about .0040 more clearance at bolt head it would be perfect!

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Not all axle shaft mounting bolts are able to be torqued propely. Three of the mounting bolts have adequate clearance, three do not.

I would reccomend with notice of mounting issue.

        • Mounting flange issue

        Best Uses

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

There are six mounting bolts where the axle bolts to the drive flange, three of the bolts are accessable with a socket, three are not. I was able to torque the three accessable bolts, the others I had to get as tight as possible guessing the torque because a socket will not fit over the head of the bolt. The OE removed was easily accessable.
This was on a first gen S10 4x4
I am nuetral on recomending this axle for this application

                A:

Good question Joe! RPO ZR2 was a special off-road/suspension package offered by General Motors primarily on their 4x4 2nd Generation S-Series line. It debuted in 1994 on the Chevrolet S-10 and the GMC Sonoma pickup trucks. In 1996 it was expanded to the two-door Chevrolet S-10 Blazer and later offered on the Chevrolet Tracker. The ZR2 package was gradually phased out with the S-Series pickup and SUV lines.
