Comments about CARQUEST Complete Timing Set:

This is the best timing chain kit for the money. I listened to "the other guy" and bought an additional tensioner thinking I wouldn't get one, yep, I have two now. This kit DOES come with the correct parts. Please remember!!! Compensate for the tensioner rolling your cam when you release it onto the chain!!! It will make you one tooth off and NEVER get into time!!! I found that out the hard way. Truck runs like a top! Got 225k out of the original timing chain, I'm looking for another!

Comments about CARQUEST Complete Timing Set:

This item states that this is a timing kit with tensioners infact it does not come with all the tensioners
All that comes in this kit is the Crank gear,Cam gear,Chain, and guides NO TENSIONERS

So you have to puchase the tensioners seperate

Why does the description and / or spec section not tell you that this chain only has 48 links? My 91 Toyota Pickup with the 4 cyl engine needs a chain with 49 links.. This does not fit my truck, but AAP says it does. Also the guides are slightly different. And no one has yet been able to tell me the difference between this part and part number 76027S. Very frustrating and misleading. I need to know which timing set FOR SURE fits the above mentioned truck.

                    A:

Hi Mike, I can understand your frustration with trying to find the correct Timing Set for your '91 Toyota Pickup with an L4. I checked competitors as well as our own catalogs. Normally there will not be a designation for links in the chain when they are all supposed to be the same. I see all the kits available are of the same design so the links would be the same. The 76027S is a heavier duty version with a steel guide. This would be similar to the HD designation on the Beck/Arnley part. I saw on Sealed Power Part No. KT-1028S that says it fits that if the cylinder head or engine block has been resurfaced that you may need to use a shim. You may need to consult with a certified mechanic to see if they are able to see if there have been any modifications.
