    I have owned this truck since 1991. Its been a great truck and I can still do the required maintenance. The original GM part lasted over 20 years. This part I have now replaced 3 times over the last 4 years. I feel the parts are made to last just a short time as most anything now days. I is frustrating to be on the side of the road once again. I don't plan on selling, so I will most likely replace the part again in a year.

        would this or the master cylinder make it seem like the cluch is not engaging completely and how do I know which one is not working properly I replaced the clutch 5 yrs ago and the slave cylinder also so im thinking that one of the cylinders is bad due to fact I haven't put a lot of miles on it

          I'm happy to help, Mark! It's possible that a faulty clutch slave cylinder could cause the clutch to feel like it isn't engaging. You will also typically notice other symptoms such as fluid leaking and a soft, spongy feel to the clutch pedal. This may prevent you from changing gears. To better diagnose your vehicle, I suggest purchasing a repair manual for your vehicle. The manual will provide additional diagnostic information. If you need additional diagnostic assistance, I suggest consulting with a certified mechanic.

          The clutch slave cylinder could be mounted either on outside or inside of the transmission. If it is mounted on the outside, it is usually attached to the manual transmission by two bolts, In an internal clutch slave cylinder design, the clutch slave cylinder and clutch release bearing are one unit, this unit slides in the input shaft of the manual transmission and is held by two or three bolts that attach the unit to the front of the transmission ( inside the bellhousing).
