Flywheel hot spots can cause chatter. Resurfacing a flywheel doesn't always remove hot spots. The flywheel may look shiny and pretty, but the hot spots will often still be there. Service the System by replacing the flywheel and the clutch set at the same time. All flywheels come with a new ring gear.

Comments about CARQUEST Clutch New Flywheel:

The pilot bearing in a Miata is pressed into the flywheel, and this brand new flywheel was machined several thousandths too large so it would not sit in snug. I also tried two known good pilot bearings

  • Q:

Does this flywheel come with a pilot bearing? I have heard that the standard Mazda bearing does not fit it well since it is a pressed in bearing.

      A:

I'm happy to help, Ray! This flywheel does not include a pilot bearing. There are a few pilot bearing choices for the Mazda vehicles that this flywheel fits. Dorman Part Nos. 14672, 690-049.1 and 690-049 all fit. The difference is the packaging.
