Flywheel hot spots can cause chatter. Resurfacing a flywheel doesn't always remove hot spots. The flywheel may look shiny and pretty, but the hot spots will often still be there. Service the System by replacing the flywheel and the clutch set at the same time. All flywheels come with a new ring gear.

        • Q:

Is this flywheel drilled for both pressure plate patterns?
Asked on 12/17/2014 by lawson from NFL

            A:

I'm glad to assist, Lawson! This flywheel has a pressure plate bolt pattern that is 12-5/8 inches. This is for an 11 inch or 12 inch pressure plate, they both have the same bolt pattern. Some of these applications have a 10.4 inch clutch that has a 11-5/8 inch bolt pattern and this flywheel does not have that bolt pattern.

            A:

With reference to your inquiry on the Perfection Clutch New Flywheel - Part No. 50-6504 you would need size 7/16-20 bolt to bolt the pressure plate to flywheel. Unfortunately we do have a matching bolt set for this part available online. However I would recommend that you check with the nearest Advance Auto Parts store or call us toll free at: 1-877-238-2623 and one of our Part Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

        • Q:

Ok, more information for my previous question. I am thinking of installing a 1975 350ci (5.7L) engine into my 1991 chevy S10 Blazer that now has a 4.3L engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. Is the bolt pattern on the pressure plate the same on the 4.3L as the flywheel #50-6504? Both clutch disc's are 11", have the same diameter input shaft of 1.125", and have 10 splines so it looks like the disc will work. The only variable now is the bolt patterns of the pressure plates.

this flywheel will fit all chevy small blocks from 1955-1985,265ci-350ci as long as your engine is internally balanced, this one is 168 tooth and uses an 11in. clutch and pressure plate assembly, this flywheel also fits some big blocks 348ci-427ci as long as they are internally balanced. the bolt pattern and center hole remain the same for all these applications I mentioned. i have been a chevy Mechanic for over 40 years and I specialize in old muscle cars.

Answered on 11/9/2011 by big hat from pineville ky
          • A:

both flywheels have 168 teeth and are the same diameter, the first part # is for a wide application of early chevy engines 1955-1985 internally balanced, the second part# is specific, it fits only a 4.3 chevy V6 the bolt pattern and crank hub center hole is smaller.
