Comments about CARQUEST Clutch New Clutch Set:

My truck has 190,000 miles on it so I didn't want top of the line. For what you pay it's an excellent part. I got the clutch kit and slave bearing for less than $200.00 with online discounts. The picture shows a "slave/throw out bearing" but it doesn't come with it. It does come with a new pilot bearing and an alighnment tool that makes it impossible not to center the disk. The ring on the end of the tool takes no force to pull out so your garaunteed perfect alignment. The slave is very difficult to bleed but they all are. Look at You-Tube Videos they help allot.

Comments about CARQUEST Clutch New Clutch Set:

Well its definitely made in china, however the parts look good and the pressure plate is lathe cut, indicating that it is new and not re-manufactured. Also replaced slave and flywheel (from Advanced) when doing this job. I wasn't 100% sold on this part when buying it, but after all is said and done, it performs just fine. BTW, If the picture shows that this set comes with a throwout (release) bearing, It doesn't. The new slave cylinder DID have the bearing on it though.

            • Q:

I can't decide between the self adjusting clutch and the non self adjusting clutch. There is only a 5 dollar difference. You would think everybody would be buying the self adjusting clutch, yet it's the non self adjusting clutch that has the good product reviews. Why?

                A:

With reference to your inquiry on the Perfection Clutch New Clutch Set - part# MU50160-1, it is actually more a matter that the angle of the diaphragm "fingers" change as the clutch wears. And while the slave cylinder has enough surplus travel to deal with that the fingers start out nearly "Flat" early in the disc's wear cycle, and tent towards the transmission and that changes the geometry and increases pedal effort. The "adjustable" pressure plate is designed to reduce that effect. The non-adjustable clutch cover is what leads to the classic symptom of the clutch getting gradually harder to release just before it starts it's terminal slide towards replacement. For any further assistance, please visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.
