Comments about CARQUEST Clutch New Clutch Set:

I had never installed a clutch before I put this one in my '94 Ranger. I purchased a complete kit because I wasn't sure what I would need. Having everything together along with instructions was great, and now my truck drives like new.

The alignment tool and hydraulic release tool included are an absolute necessity. The bearing fit the new fly wheel (Part No. 50-724) perfectly.

Do yourself a favor and replace the entire hydraulic system (master/slave/line, Part No PF9015). I didn't the first time and ended up needing to drop the transmission twice >:(. Bleeding it is a pain, but take your time, do it on the bench, and it will work.

          A:

Normally, it is not necessary but please check with the wear and tear of the clutch and clutch plates.

      • Q:

on a 93 explorer, is the hydralic slave cylinder in the bellhousing? if it is, it seems to me that replacing it while your putting the clutch in would be money well spent. Chris

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

The slave cylinder is located in the transmission on those vehicles and require the transmission being pulled out to replace it. If the slave cylinder is working properly, mechanically there is no need to replace the slave cylinder. However with the the vehicle as old as it it, if there are alot of miles on the vehicle and the slave cylinder has never been replaced before, replacing it will save you time in the future and give you security while driving down the road.
