This thermostat is cheaper in price but the quality is bad, I have replaced it 2 times in two months, the 3rd one hopefully will last past the 1 year warranty

            • Q:

i had the check engine light to come on my 2002 ford ranger 2.3liter engine. the diagnostic computer at auto zone came up with a code of p1432 thermostat heater control(THTRC) circuit failure, no DTC definition.
I have ordered the assembly to replace the thermostat and housing since it all comes in one piece. Is there a chance this could be a problem with the PCM or just the sensor on the housing

                A:

The code P1432 is Thermostat Heater Control (THTRC) Circuit Failure and also may be because of Open VPWR, Open or shorted thermostat assembly, Damaged PCM. So, testing should include wire harness, thermostat heater and PCM.

Any liquid-cooled car engine has a small device called the thermostat that sits between the engine and the radiator. The thermostat in most cars is about 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter.
