Thermostat was hung in open position so I purchased this as a replacement. I'm a sixty year old car fanatic and have built over two hundred classic cars, so I know how to wotk on one.

I installed this thermostat in a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado LT 3.7L 223CI L5 FI VIN:E Due to no fault of the part, but this is extremely difficult to install on this engine.

You Must remove front driver side inner wheel well, you must also remove two brake lines running in front of the thermostat. This must be done before you can get enough clearance to get tools and hands onto thermostat. You must have access to a right angle hose clamp removal tool before you can remove the hose clamp from thermostat housing.(pliers will not work for you)
Thermostat removal and installation takes but a few minutes after above items are removed.
Once installed and all items reassembled, the thermostat worked so well, that I actually believe the orginal thermostat was faulty from GM. Engine comes to operating temperature faster than it has ever done since I purchased the truck in 2006. I was impressed with thermostat performance.

Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Thermostat Including Housing, 180 Degrees Fahrenheit:

My engine light came on, and I knew my temp gauge was running cool. Also, it took forever to warm up the cab, and defrost the windows. I leave work early around 4:00am, so I need heat. Here in the North part of North Carolina in December it has been in the 20's at night lately. So I ordered the Thermostat along with new anti-freeze and after install the truck gets nice and warm inside. Needless to say the truck also runs at the correct temp. The old thermostat had a seal go bad which had kept it open all the time I guess, ( I am not a mechanic)But the seal was obviously the problem! Anyway all fixed. I did replace the lower radiator hose since I was at 100,000 miles, and if you have to get to the thermostat you might as well do it also. One thing I would like to say is that the Thermostat I got came with a new o-ring seal which is nice. I bought one not knowing it did. Last but not least I would once again Like to thank all the good people at the Yanceyville Advance store for their help. Great group of people!!!

Had the P0128 code. Could have gotten a little cheaper from competitor but for $2 I stuck with Advanced. If you look online you can find it at sites for about $5-$10 cheaper but I usually don't do that.
You have to remove the driver side tire and wheel well to get at thermostat. Antifreeze gets drained out then you can get in and replace thermostat. Awkward angle to navigate. Part was perfect replacement. After cleanup no code issues. Been a week (280 miles driven) and operating properly. Total labor approx 1 hr

My truck started to run poorly. I was also using way more gas than usual. Rough idle, sputering under acceleration, hesitation that was just not good. I went to a local garage to get it diagniosed. The mechanic used the computer interface from under the dashboard, to "run the codes". After a minute or two he came up with a faulty thermostat diagniosis. He explained that the vehicles engine needs to be at the correct operating level, (tempature) for all the sensors and emision equipment to function properly. The faulty t-stat would not allow the engine to get up to the correct temp.
After replacing the part and servicing the coolant system with new anti freeze, my truck is happy again.....

Replace thermostat on 2006 canyon 2.4, before the temperature gauge was ¼ to ½ hot, has 136,000 miles. Now the gauge runs little more above ½. Replace with new anti-freeze also. Is this normal for the new thermostat? Was the old thermostat set as a lower temperature that this one (180 degrees)?

Hi Joe, happy to help! Yes, new thermostats might run hotter than the old ones. Please check if the gauge moves till the final position and stays there, if it doesn't and show some inconsistency then you might need further diagnosis. You may need to check with a certified mechanic in that scenario.

Take off the drivers side wheel and wheel well incert (the big plastic thing inside the fender). The radiator hose infront of you is the one with the thermostat. Its a 10mm with a swivel and 12" extension.
