Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Thermostat, 203 Degrees Fahrenheit:

This thermostat replaced the factory thermostat which was stuck closed on my 2012 Dodge Durango R/T with the 5.7l HEMI. This is made in the U.S. and comes with the rubber gasket on the thermostat. No additional gaskets or sealants are needed for the thermostat housing. Simply place plastic bag under thermostat housing to catch coolant, remove two thermostat housing screws, remove old thermostat and install new thermostat same direction as the old one came out with the vent positioned up, torque the screws to 115 in lbs for the 2012 Dodge Durango with 5.7l HEMI and refill the radiator with orange HOAT coolant and distilled water (50/50 ratio).

Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Thermostat, 203 Degrees Fahrenheit:

if you Have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7 Hemi and you have a check engine light for a code describing a lower than optimal engine temperature you may need to buy this thermostat. this is the issue that I was having with my engine running too cold. now I know that my old thermostat was operating correctly it just may have been the wrong thermostat for my vehicle. as they make different thermostats that open and close at different temperatures this thermostat is designed to work with the stock programming on the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. after installing this replacement thermostat and driving until the monitors reset the check engine light went out. so far so good.

Works just like you'd expect, 199-205 degrees in heavy stop and go traffic or running 500 miles at 70 miles per hour on long trips.

            • Q:

Does this reside in the top hose or bottom hose in the 5.7l motor? I know on older Durangos it was low and a little tougher to change out.

The thermostat is found at the end of the rad hose . Find the top rad hose and follow it to the engine .Their you will find a thermostat housing with the end of the hose attached.
