It's good.

Replaced the original on my 2005 Dakota with this, good replacement, after 2 months it's still holding the temp right where it should be.

This part does not fit my 2002 jeep liberty.
The part doesn't even look like the picture.
The gasket is too big and you have to force it.
I returned mine and what a waste of time.
Also the people were rude.
There were 5 people working in the store talking to each other and nobody would ask me if I needed help.

Installed many of these and I do not understand why it has such a low rating. Just because it does not have the same tab on the gasket as O.E.??? Just pay attention the way you remove it and the way it is indexed and it will work just fine!

Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Thermostat, 195 Degrees Fahrenheit:

I had my doubts because it looks quite different from the OE thermostat for a '04 Ram 4.7, but it fit fine once it was aligned with the notch in the outlet. Gasket is very different as well, but seals. Replaced it at the same time as a clogged radiator, it's been working fine while towing a trailer in 90 degree + temperatures.

Not an exact fit for 2003 Jeep liberty

Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Thermostat, 195 Degrees Fahrenheit:

This product was installed and left a gap. Took it out, reseated it and reinstalled and still had a gap. The old one that came out was flush and this new one wasn't flush because the rubber seal stuck up past the edge. I had to return this part to the store because it wasn't the proper thermostat for my application. Don't waste your time trying to install in a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport because it doesn't fit. Very frustrating and time consuming because the description says it is an exact fit. Maybe for another vehicle it's an 'exact fit' but not mine.

I have a 03 Dakota 4.7. This is the wrong thermostat. Period! There computers are wrong. Love Advanced but they need to correct this. We ended up pulling 6 different thermostats off the shelf to match up size and dementions. Good news. One for the 360 fit and is a 165 temp. Plus it was only 7 dollars. Just used the factory rubber gasket.

                      A:

Hello Billm60, I'm happy to help! The thermostat on a 3.7L is on the inlet side of the cooling system. If you follow the lower radiator hose back to the engine you will find the black plastic thermostat housing. The thermostat housing is held to the timing cover with two 8 mm bolts. Replacing the thermostat involves removing the bottom hose, removing the two 8 mm bolts that hold the housing to the timing cover, and removing the housing. The thermostat will stay captured in the housing, just pull it out of the housing.

                      A:

I'm happy to help! To locate the thermostat follow the top radiator hose to the top of the engine intake. This hose goes on to the thermostat housing. Once you take off the housing, the thermostat is inside. When you replace the thermostat, be sure it is oriented the same way as the one you removed. Once this is done you can add reserve or new coolant to the radiator.

The thermostat may be the possible cause of the problem. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

You want to replace the thermostat when it stops opening. You will be able to tell it is going bad when the temperature gets real high and then drops in seconds. That means that your thermostat did not open enough and it should be replaced.

The thermostat on your  2004 Dodge Ram 1500 should be located in the LOWER radiator hose. It is mounted in a plastic housing attached to the front of the engine where the lower radiator hose attaches to the engine.

                      A:

The thermostat is located at the bottom of the motor, on passengers side. There are two hoses that run from the radiator, one on top (which does not lead to the thermostat) and one on bottom, about 3inches in diameter. Two 1/2 inch bolts holds the housing around the thermostat.

If you look down on the radiator, on the left side, there is a large hose coming out of the radiator toward the engine. Where the hose ends there is housing with 2 bolts. The Thermostat is found under that.
