Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Thermostat, 195 Degrees Fahrenheit:

I had a check engine light on. Scaned and found DTC P0158. I was getting poor gas mileage and a cold running might be the issue. Installed the carquest thermostat and my engine temp is where it shoukd be and my gas mileage improved.

Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Thermostat, 195 Degrees Fahrenheit:

I have carried a spare thermostat in my truck for years...and used it a few weeks ago. I needed this one to tuck back into the empty spot for next time. They must be building them better, 30 years ago it seemed like I was replacing thermostats in V-8's every couple of years. The last spare I had under the seat laid there for six or seven.

Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Thermostat, 195 Degrees Fahrenheit:

My local store had 3 of these guys in stock. After I pulled out my old one which was stuck open after being used for 187000miles I installed the first of them only to have the engine overheat in 15min. Took it out and put it in a pot of boiling water and it still didnt open. Strike 1. I took it back and the next one they brought out was corroded and looked worse then the one I pulled out of the car. Strike 2. The next one looked decent so I took it home boiled it and it finaly opened at 230 degrees. Figured Id throw it in to see what happends... overheated in 10 min. Strike 3. Save yourself a night of frustration and don't buy this one.
