Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Thermostat , 180 Degrees Fahrenheit:

This is the only thermostat that matches the exact OE specifications for the Mazda Millenia. It has a new gasket included. It also has the giggle pin that is required for a Mazda Millenia. Since the thermostat is installed upside down in the lower reaches of the antifreeze level, a giggle pin is required or it will take forever to blead the air pockets out of the system during antifreeze changes. Also, the metal is heavy grade and high quality. The cheaper thermostats don't have a gasket, which means you will either have to buy that as well or take your chances with the new one leaking. The cheaper ones also don't have the giggle pin, which means you will either take forever bleading the air, or will have to drill an 1/8 inch hole in the replacment thermostat. The cheaper ones also are a paper thin low grade steel that won't last long under harsh conditions. Since the location of the thermostat is so difficult to change on the Mazda Millenia, you don't want to have to go back in in a couple years and do it all over again. So go with this model of thermostat, it is an exact replacement, and will last the rest of the life of your car.

Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Thermostat , 180 Degrees Fahrenheit:

I bought the one the computer had recommended ([$]) as the exact fit and needed the gasket to go with it ($2.99). When I went to install it I found the OEM had 2 stage valving, a vent ball and seal around the circumference. The "optional" thermostat was the correct one. This unit is [$] but worth the money in fuel to drive back and exchange it. Considering the local dealer is 50 miles away and not open on the weekends it is well worth the extra money.

              A:

Great question, Terry. This Thermostat has Jiggle pin which helps bleed the cooling system of trapped air by allowing air in the cooling system to pass into the radiator through the thermostat and be released from the system.
