Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Thermostat, 180 Degrees Fahrenheit:

180 degree thermostat helped cure a hot idle problem. I pulled the thermostat housing from the car. I cleaned the 2-piece housing and installed the thermostat and o-ring on my work table. I reinstalled the housing with the hoses. Then refilled the cooling system with Zerex Premium Gold at 50/50. Idle surging and coolant warnings in the message center have stopped. I also had to clean out the throttle body to get idle back to normal, but the Felpro gasket and 14138 thermostat were a big help.

Works perfectly. Thermostat does not come with the O-ring; O-Ring needs to be purchased separately.

On a 2005 Mazda MPV, where does it get installed?

          A:

The thermostat is located underneath the front of the Mazda on the driver side of the vehicle. Follow the radiator hose up to the thermostat housing. To get more specific information on the location of the thermostat I would recommend purchasing a Chilton or Haynes Repair Manual for your vehicle, not only will it show the location and also explain how to install, but you'll find it handy for many more projects on your vehicle.
