I recently replaced all of the engine cooling system components following radiator and (two weeks later) water pump failures. Cap has a nice pressure relief feature that allows you to vent the system pressure prior to cap removal. Design is such that you must pull the vent in order to unlock the cap which may help the inexperienced from opening it under severe pressure. Nice design and marginal cost increase over non-venting model.

Radiator caps wear out over time, any brand needs to be replaced sooner or later. Cheap insurance compared to overheating and the problems that causes.

Use is on 1990 Seville, and first one lasted 23 months which beat the warranty of 12 but not a gem by any means. I guess they do not make radiator caps like they use to.

Comments about CARQUEST Caps and Stats Radiator Cap Lev-R-Vent:

Makes removing radiator cap safer and easier. Pulling the lever will release the pressure and vent pressurized coolant into the overflow tank rather than all over your engine or hands. Relieving the pressure (or vacuum) makes cap removal a snap.

I have replaced my hoses, water pump, radiator and rediator cap but I am still having to replace collant. Is it possible that I bought the wrong radiator cap?

Normally if you have a bad head gasket leaking into a combustion chamber you will experience white smoke coming out of your exhaust tail pipe. Or , If head gasket is leaking into oil galleys you will experience overfull oil and possibly white foam in your oil or oil that looks like a milkshake. Hope this helps... I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

I don't think it's the cap. Here's what ya need to do. REALLY clean off cap & entire area around the top of the radiator near cap. Carefully monitor for leaks & dribbles.
You may have a leaky water pump even if its "new" , or a pinhole in a hose or the radiator. Careful inspections and hot monitoring should find this . . . Or maybe bad head gasket. Good Luck. Maxx
