Will this remedy the engine check light coming on after fuling 2012 Kia soul+ ? Been to dealer and no problems found. Engine light usually goes out after 50 miles or 2 1/2 hours like clockwork.

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Hi Lisa! An illuminated Check Engine Light is a symptom of a potential issue with the vehicle's gas cap. The gas cap is a part of the vehicle's evaporative emissions system and can cause problems with the system if it has an issue. An improperly sealing fuel cap may cause an evap system leak, which will set off the Check Engine Light when the the computer detects the leak. The Check Engine Light can also be set off by a wide variety of other issue so having the computer scanned for trouble codes is highly recommended. A bad or failing fuel cap will not necessarily cause major performance issues, but it can set off the Check Engine Light, which will prevent the vehicle from passing an emissions test. However, I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

    • Q:

Will this new replacement gas cap overcome difficulty to start engine after refueling?
      Asked on 10/3/2015 by Art

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Hi Art, glad to help you! The most common faults are inoperative evaporative parts in the system, along with vent and purge valves. Also, you may experience a driveability problem because of too much gasoline entering the engine causing a rich condition when the gas tank is filled full. The charcoal canister may also be damaged and full of gasoline, which will also need replacement. However, I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.
