Comments about BWD/Intermotor EGR Vacuum Solenoid:

After cleaning all the ports and the inside of EGR valve the check engine light was still on. Then there needs to be 33 to 39 ohms of continuity on the Solenoid switching valve and the old valve never had it I knew this was the problem. After changing it out the check engine light cleared.

Comments about BWD/Intermotor EGR Vacuum Solenoid:

Since they say that the VSV is the most likely cause of the EGR failure, i decided to buy the alternative to OEM and it worked. Code went away by itself.

On toyota camry 98 , this valve is placed in the most difficult place . I have to remove the right front wheel to reach. It is still a nightmare to unbolt the nut attach the VSV to the engine block.

Advanced auto parts selling this parts for $55. You have removed the right front wheel . Put your left arm in and touch the engine block , you will feel the the rubber tube along with the VSV. It is a PIA to remove it . It is the most difficult place to reach in the car . Whoever is the design engineer, he got to be dumb .

I abandoned the old solenoid at the old location and installed the new solenoid on an empty threaded hole about 6 inches to the left of the original location on my 91 Camry. All hoses/connections fit, just needed a short 10M x 1.25mm metric bolt. Much easier to access.

On the firewall side of the engine block. Remove right front wheel to access it.
