Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Timing Component Kit:
Replaced the tensioner and idler at the same time that I did my timing belt service on my Volvo 2.4T. These two parts fit well, and went on with no problems. 2000 miles later, no issues.
For anyone debating whether to replace this at your timing belt service interval, let me recommend that you do replace it. The bearings can get old and start to growl under load in a high mileage engine.
The idler bolts up in a very straightforward method. For someone unfamiliar with the tensioner: Align the tab on the top with the notch in the block. Insert the single bolt through the center, but do not tighten it all the way down. Use an allen key to turn the cam-shaped item on the front of the bearing of the tensioner. If the belt is on, you will feel the tension build and decrease as you go clockwise and counter-clockwise. My vehicle let the belt be loose in the 7 O'Clock position and tight in the 11 O'Clock position, but this may be different for you. Tighten it until the top tab "temperature" tab is straight up on a room-temperature engine.
Also recommended: Check your cam seals for oil leaks.
