Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Timing Belt Water Pump Kit without Seals:

Kit has all the parts. It fits the 2L SPI without problems. The job is mostly getting other thing out of your way. You have to remove the crankshaft pulley, camshaft sproket, timing covers, generator and engine mount.
Its a good idea to replace the lower radiator hose and heater hose, accesory belt. It's a better idea to have a friend to help, hold second wrenches, etc.

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Timing Belt Water Pump Kit without Seals:

The installation of this kit resulted in the belt being too loose. The water pump pully has the same number of teeth as the original one. The belt has the same number of teeth as the original one. The tensioner seems to be the same diameter but the tensioner is at the end of its travel so it seems like the belt is too long or the tensioner is offset wrong or? It does not work for this car.The belt is too loose and it jumps teeth.

            A:

Hi Sgt, good question! For a 1999 Ford Escort 2.0L with VIN 3 you would need the 95294K1 instead of 95283K1. For the water pump kit WP294K2A you would need Dayco Timing Belt Water Pump Kit without Seals - Part No. WP294K2A.

        • Q:

I purchased this kit and installed it. Now the timing belt loosens after about 5 miles. The tensioner is at the end of its travel so not enough tension is on the belt. The belt and the water pump pully have the same number of teeth as the originals. Why is it loose? Why is the tensioner at the end of its travel?
