Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Poly Rib Belt:

Two different sizes of belts for the same application. Both say "exact fit" but only one actually fits. No way to tell which is right until you try it. It was even suggested that I buy both and return the un-needed one. This necessitated three separate trips to the store.

What can I say. It is a belt and it serves it's purpose. Alittle better than average, but it also cost alittle more than the cheapest belt.

Everyone is sure this will be compatible with a 97 F150 Supercab 4x4 4.6? And if so what size wrench will I need for the belt tensioner?

                    A:

Hi Alex, glad to help you! You will need a 10 mm socket to remove the 10 mm bolts mounting the serpentine belt tensioner. Instructions: Use an 8 mm wrench to disconnect the negative battery cable and use a 1/2 inch ratchet bar on the belt tensioner to loosen the tension on the serpentine belt. Then remove the serpentine belt and check the belt for cracks, frays or flaws. Use a 10 mm socket to remove the 10 mm bolts mounting the serpentine belt tensioner. Install the new tensioner and bolt the tensioner in using your 10 mm socket and ratchet and use a 1/2 inch ratchet to install the serpentine belt. Use your diagram to route the belt properly and reconnect your battery using your 8 mm wrench. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts. The exact repair manual part number for your vehicle is 36059.

The original belt on my '97 F-150 (5.4 L V8 with a/c) has 8 ribs. This one looks to only have 6, is it really the correct replacement belt for my Ford?

it specifies 8 so it could just be a generic picture or it does say it is a new design for worn or high miles. it actually looks like twelve if u look closley
