I struggled over whether to spend the extra couple dollars on the Dayco or to buy one of the cheapie belts. Once I received this, I knew I made the right choice. It is of a higher quality rubber and feels more substantial. The warranty is also better. I would make the same choice in the future.

Barely last 14 months before replacement

Wear out just after 12 month warranty. Looking for a better replacement. Not worth the money.

      Good belt

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Poly Rib Belt:

Replaced a Dayco belt with this one. Made by Gates, the quality seems good. It was a little longer than my belt that had 150k on it, but ran quieter for the 500 miles I put on the truck the following day.

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Poly Rib Belt:

I sell used cars so I have an ear for odd noises. I noticed a wooshing noise with the engine running on my vehicle. I noticed the belt had cracks in the ribbing on one side. I ordered a belt online from Advance but unfortunately it wasn't in stock at the store when I went to pick it up even though it showed it was available. After getting my money refunded several days later I called another Advance store and made sure they had it and then bought it on line. I installed it today and it was a snug fit that required some effort to get it on the last pulley with it centered on all the other pulleys. I had the tensioner pulled all the way over. Once on it stopped the wooshing sound so I'm happy with it. It comes with a 3 yr warranty so I'll copy my receipt just in case it fails. I'm also keeping the old in the trunk.

This is the second Dayco belt I have purchased for this vehicle. The first one lasted only 18 months. I rated this 3 stars only because there is the possibility the first one was defective although it did squeak by just past the warranty.

This will not fit a 2003 Trailblazer EXT. with 4.2L The correct belt for the 4.2L EXT is 5060905 Dayco. This is a shorter belt. The longer one will slip and make power steering pump knock.

                      A:

You will not need a special tool. You will only need a socket set and a long handle socket wrench, or a piece of pipe placed over the handle of the socket wrench give you better leverage when you relieve the belt tensioner.
