Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Poly Rib Belt:

Bought this to replace the serpentine belt on my 2004 Ford Taurus. Picture shows the 6 ribbed belt I needed, but actual belt only has 3 ribs. Word of advice, read the description and don't trust the picture.

                A:

CODE P0340: indicates that a problem was detected in the camshaft position sensor circuit. Since it says circuit, that means the problem could lie in any part of the circuit - the sensor itself, the wiring, or the PCM (powertrain control module)., SYMPTOMS: can include: Hard starting or no start., Rough running / misfiring., Loss of engine power., CAUSES: code P0340 could mean one or more of the following has happened: a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken., the camshaft position sensor may have failed., the PCM may have failed., there exists an open circuit., the crankshaft position sensor may have failed., POSSIBLE DIAGNOSIS: With a P0340 code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try: Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit., Check for continuity in the circuit wiring., Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor., Replace the camshaft position sensor as required., Check the crankshaft position circuit as well., Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required., Diagnose/replace the PCM as required., CODE P1336: indicates crankshaft position sensor signal is not detected by the ECM (Engine Control Module) during the first few seconds of engine cranking., POSSIBLE CAUSES: Crankshaft position sensor harness is open or shorted., Crankshaft position sensor circuit poor electrical connection., Crankshaft position sensor may be faulty., Signal plate may be damage., Starter motor may be faulty., Starting system circuit., also check crankshaft position sensor harness is routed correctly and the timing belt has not jumped a tooth or, and is lined up correctly., Note: Sometimes and in some models, low battery voltage or a weak starter can can trigger a crankshaft position sensor code. Before replacing any parts, recharge or replace battery.
