perfect fit

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Molded Heater Hose:

I went through a lot of trouble to try to save the heater core attachment clips to reuse them. I had had a bypassed heater core and was going to reconnect the heater hoses with 5/8" straight connections. However, the clips from the original heater hoses on my '98 F-250 wouldn't fit on the new heater core (a tad too small). I got the matching pair of these hoses. This one, in particular, was the challenging one to get off. I ended up cutting off the old retaining clip with a Dremel. This new hose fit perfectly. There seemed to be a small amount of play when I clicked it onto the heater core tubes, but there are no signs of leaks so far.

        A:

I'm happy to help, Jim! You do not need to disassemble the new hose to install it onto your heater core. There is a quick disconnect tool from Ford with Part No. 27106. AdvanceAutoParts.com carries OTC Chrysler/Ford Heater Hose Disconnect Tool (Part No. OTC7413) and Schley Products, Inc Chrysler / Ford Heater Hose Disconnect Tool (Part No. SCH93440). Cal Van Heater Hose Disconnect Set (Part No. 244TNZ) may also work for the removal and installation. I suggest purchasing a repair manual for your vehicle, as well, for detailed removal and installation instructions.
