This is a Fiberglass Pulley. I find no downside to it not being metal. Runs cool and quiet. I have used this type before with no problem.

I installed this on my 1991 Jeep Wrangler with no p/s and no a/c in less than 5 minutes. It worked perfectly with my bolt/washer. I also installed a new belt at the same time. Exactly what I needed to quickly get back on the road with my Jeep and in stock!

Good pulley, exact fit. Polymer and steel both have thier benefits. But I wish it was made of steel instead of polymer.

I have a problem install new pulley into my 88 Jeep Cherokee (6 Cyl-4.0L)
Original pulley use with step washer and mounting bolt . New pulley will not turn freely unless
you have to find thin washer (5/8 ID) place it at the front of pulley then insert step sleeve, tighten bolt otherwise original step washer will interfere cause pulley hard to turn ( very tricky)

            A:

Yes, if the tensioner pulley is too tight when put on with original plate cover and would not turn when bolted on it could be the issue with the washer and or with the plate.
