Purchased this for a 2006 Taurus with a 3.0L SOHC engine. There is only one idler pulley but part listings show two different parts, which are different diameters. Mine was 90mm, which is about 3-1/2 inches. I believe the other was 76 mm, or about 3 inches in diameter.

Part was easy to install I had a loud noise coming from the engine turned out to be this idler pulley I replaced it within less than 15 minutes and it's quiet now vehicle run smooth it was easy to order the part online Parks like this tend to go bad but this part seems to be durable and looks like it will last a long time if it doesn't it's easy to replace and doesn't cost much I'm sure that it'll last a long time as I've had the vehicle for many years and never had to replace one before it has quality and is heavy duty

Toyota must have put the 102mm part on as original but then later changed the whole assembly and made it a 90mm part. So I ordered the 90 cause it said it would fit but it didn't. Couldn't even or the 102mm part at all. So the 90 is right but yet still wrong for some applications.

I had some ridiculously loud noise coming from the front of the engine on my expedition. Suspected power steering so I changed fluid in hopes of an easy fix. When there was no difference I suspected it to be the serpentine belt tensioner, the pulley to be specific. Figured if i was going to change that I might as well change the idler pulleys and belt at the same time. The upper idler pulley appeared to be proper diameter, of solid build quality, and bearings were tight and smooth. After changing everything the engine once again purrs. The wife is happy because people no longer watch her pull in to places.

I'm happy to help, Tim! For your 1997 GMC K1500 SLE Z71 4x4 5.7L it will depend on what your vehicle has for an idler pulley currently. If it is grooved it must be replaced with grooved. Smooth must be replaced with smooth. From what I see the grooved pulley tends to be for the trucks without A/C. Based on your serpentine belts routing, either the smooth side of the belt or the grooved side of the belt will come into contact with the idler pulley and that will need to match.
