Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Curved Radiator Hose:

This radiator hose was "Old New Stock" when I picked it up at Advance Auto. It had been hanging on their hose rack for at 3 or more years. They did not have another one so I had to take it. The outside of the hose was discolored and dry but other than that it was OK. When you spend $50 plus for a radiator hose you expect it to be recently manufactured. I hope it holds up. This hose was a difficult to install as it consisted of three hoses connected together and the diameter of the hose was considerably smaller than the factory hose removed. Another pain was the ends of the hoses were made larger so I would fit over the radiator and water pump outlets and they were not made long enough to fully fit over the radiator outlets and it was a struggle to get hose over the outlets. I suggest that you use the OEM clamps you removed from the old hose on the new hose if they are in good shape.

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Curved Radiator Hose:

This hose assembly was not the same as the original Motorcraft hose. The hose was sugnificantly smaller diameter than the original Motorcraft hose with the exception of the ends, where the hose connects to the radiator and the water pump. Also the ends where it connects are not of sufficent length to properly fit over the outlet of the radiator. Also it was very difficult to install the hose on the outlets of the radiator and the water pump. As in my previous comments for other parts it would have been nice if I could have purchased a Motorcraft Hose from Advance Auto Parts. You should always use the old ford hose clamps on your replacement hose so take care when removing them from your old hose.

Hose orientation all wrong

By

from St. Petersburg, Florida

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Curved Radiator Hose:

The hoses are not oriented correctly on Dayco 71959. If you mount the main hose to the radiator in the correct position, the hose to the coolant recovery tank is aimed in the wrong direction. It needs to be rotated clockwise a good 90 degrees. The hose to the engine block is also way off. The only way to use this is to cut all the clamps off and re-oriented the hoses correctly. There's no wire core in these hoses. If you try to twist them around to fit, they'll kink. The main hoses are also down-sized from the factory ones which will reduce coolant flow. They used small hoses and just flared out the ends to match the factory ones. See N*P* NBH 8950 for what the hose is supposed to look like.
