Dayco No Slack Automatic Belt Tensioners are specifically built to outperform and outlast competitive OE parts. The heavy duty cast aluminum spring case resists cracking and fatigue. Each component is built to resist rust, endure the toughest of conditions while promoting quieter performance and longer life.

Product Features:
  • Manufactured with a specially coated patented flat wire spring to allow the internal tension to be concentric, thus providing a more even degree of constant tension
  • Contains a metallic locator pin built to withstand extreme drive demands and properly locate the tensioner for installation
  • The patented Deflected Arm Plate dampens arm movement, prolonging the life of the tensioner by limiting the amount of rotational movement

Hi Yukon, glad to help! Here is the instructions to rotate the belt tensioner: Locate the tensioner pulley. If the pulley has a bolt in the center of it, you will need the appropriate socket. If it has a square hole in it, you will need the ratchet. Fit the socket over the bolt and insert the ratchet into the end of the socket, or slide the square end of the ratchet into the square hole. Push the ratchet toward the center of the engine. This rotates the pulley toward the engine and loosens tension on the belt. If you are not strong enough to rotate the pulley with only the ratchet, slide a metal pipe over the handle of the ratchet to give yourself more leverage.

      A:

With reference to your inquiry on the Dayco No Slack Automatic Belt Tensioner, Light Duty (Part No. 89305), to loosen this tensioner you can use a breakover bar, ratchet, or serpentine belt installation tool with the correct size socket for the pulley mounting bolt. Rotate the tensioner arm to release tension. Using the proper size socket, loosen the tensioner mounting bolt, and loosen the tensioner.
