Replaced a squeaky/wore out tensioner with this unit. So far so good. The pulley is plastic vs. the original metal one but maybe it will hold up just as well - the bearing usually goes before the pulley anyway.

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Belt Tensioner:

The original on my 2004 Suburban was a steel roller. It lasted 170,000 miles. This replacement roller is plastic. I do not expect long life.

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Belt Tensioner:

Product didn't look like OEM but it fit like OEM and performs like OEM. Truck was squealing when the air conditioning was engaged and the tensioner was the culprit. Air conditioning works like new again and no more noises from air conditioning system.

It worked perfect on the gm 4.8l v8 motor. I wish it was metal like the one it replaced but the value was right and the warranty will cover it if there's problems.

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Belt Tensioner:

This piece of garbage part lost all the tension it had within 20 miles of use. Made the belt slip off and snap, now I get to replace that too. Don't buy this.

Belts were squealing during rain and humid days. My 2005 GMC Sierra crew cab has 130k miles. Decided to change belts and tensioners. Piece of cake install. Took less than 15 minutes. No squeal.

Maybe a defective part, but after installing it and having it fail/lose tension after 120 miles it was not acceptable. I returned the Dayco part and went and bought a Gates product. Gates product has worked beautifully. Live and learn.
