Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Belt Tensioner:

The first part I bought was slightly out of spec...the spring was not sliding over the mounting tab on the engine. As the bolt was tightened, it started to cant and cross thread into the aluminum mounting bracket on the engine. This is a aluminum bracket on the engine is very large and not easily replaced. I immediately stopped, exchanged the tensioner for a new one, and bout a tap to rework the hole (M10 x 1.5, btw). Luckily the tap worked, and the 2nd part fit perfectly. I would recommend the other brand offered by Advance, which is listed as being made from the OEM supplier.

Poor quality. Spring and metal casting is not same size as original. Tension spring keeps coming apart because hook on spring is to short.

I have the same thought about this easy repair. The spring seems to jump off each time the bolt starts in the threads. Any suggestions?

can anyone give me some advice to install this tensioner. I just can't get it to line up and there are no instructions available with the part. I thought this would be a simple install and it is not. Anyone have any tricks or suggestions for installation.
