Replaced a squeaky/wore out tensioner with this unit. So far so good. The pulley is plastic vs. the original metal one but maybe it will hold up just as well - the bearing usually goes before the pulley anyway.

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Automatic Belt Tensioner:

Didn't need the whole tensioner but that's the only way I could get the pulley right then. At least it was very easy to change.

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Automatic Belt Tensioner:

This tensioner is not like factory. This one has plastic cheap idler where factory has metal. This one also is missing the center locator pin making installation a bit more difficult.

Dayco Works. I am partial to Gates

  • No Centering Pin Like Oem

Best Uses

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Automatic Belt Tensioner:

I think GM uses Gates for OEM. Some of the Dayco stuff you will see internal spring anchored externally and just looks on the cheap side at times. This AC tensioner didn't have the centering pin like OEM where it seats to the engine. All in all still a solid product.
