Painted/Powder Coated are Trash

    Comments about BWD Voltage Regulator:

Like other reviewers I recieved a painted blue powder coated one and it is impossible to ground except directly to the plug clip with a jumper regardless of how much sanding you do. Totally useless ! Unless you get a bare metal one you might as well just return it immediately or you'll eat the cost and have to buy another. Bought a different one of all bare metal and truck is charging again. Avoid till they stop painting these ! Photo is inaccurate as to what gets recieved.

          Doesn't Work

                Comments about BWD Voltage Regulator:

Bought two of these. First they are painted where they should be bare metal in order to ground to the frame.

I sanded off the paint and it still didn't ground. So I assume that the housing is not grounded internally.

Thereby making this product useless. Returned it and bought a more expensive American made part, and it worked perfect.

                    Comments about BWD Voltage Regulator:

This is a very poorly made product. As stated in other reviews, the unit will not ground properly. I called Standard Motor Products (supplier) about this problem in 2009, and they have done nothing about removing the defective items from the market.

                    BAD DESIGN, CHEAP.

                    Comments about BWD Voltage Regulator:

WOULD BE A FINE PART FOR PRICE, BUT THEY USE CHEAP STEEL INSTEAD OF STAINLESS STEEL FOR HOUSING, THEN THE POWDER COAT HOUSING, THAT WOULD BE GREAT AND WORK FINE BUT THEY POWDER COAT FIRST SO THE TWO RIVETS HOLDING PLUG CLASP AND GROUNDING ELECTRONICS TO HOUSING DONT TOUCH HOUSING. SO NO MATTER HOW YOU CLEAN HOUSING WHERE IT BOLTS TO FIREWALL IT WILL NOT GROUND. HAD TO PUT WIRE RIGHT TO CLASP THAT HOLDS WIRES AND WORKED FINE. I AM RETURNING THIS AND GETTING A GOOD ONE. AND IF THIS DID WORK FOR YOU DONT EXPECT IT TO LAST...ANY SPOT ITS GROUNDING WILL RUST AND IT WILL FAIL IN NO TIME.
