Installed in race application for use with high torque/ high amp mini starter on a moderate compression engine 11-5-1 , 360 ci stroker in most of these applications you deal with high amperage draw on the entire starter system , the solenoid is a key part of that system, and after installing this (BWD) unit and doing system testing under race conditions it works we'll and that makes us happy,Cool deal = less heat. I've went through 4 of these in the last 6 months. Installed the 2nd one (wich was faulty from the start) & my Jeep tried to start as soon as i touched the cable to the post! Its a good thing they have a warranty, but I'll never buy a BDS solenoid again.

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Starter Relay / Starter Solenoid:

Failed on THIRD turn of the ignition switch. Worse, it failed ON and left our newly-rebuilt starter screaming as the engine started. This also caused the engine to not turn off, because the coil is powered thru this solenoid. Had to pull the coil wire to stop the ignition but then had to pull the battery cable to stop the starter. 30 seconds of panic, all caused by a piece of junk solenoid.

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Starter Relay / Starter Solenoid:

Had read other low-rated reviews of this solenoid but was desperate to try to get our tractor fixed, so bought it anyway, rather than wait for a name-brand to be delivered (no others were in stock). The solenoid failed on the THIRD turn of the key, and failed LOCKED ON, so that the starter was still engaged, even though the engine was running. Turned off the key but the engine continued to run - because the coil was still energized thru the locked-on solenoid - so our newly-rebuilt ($90+) starter was still screaming. Jumped down, pulled the coil wire to stop the ignition but starter still was turning the engine over until I grabbed a wrench and disconnected the battery cable. A hectic 30 seconds. Will be very very wary of BWD parts in the future.

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Starter Relay / Starter Solenoid:

The first one did not work. So I bought a starter. Didn't help so I swapped out solenoid 2 more times. Finally bought the AC Delco (scroll down), installed it and the truck started right up. A little disappointed-bought a starter for nothing. However Advance was good about making the solenoids good.

It failed intermittently after 3-4weeks. then stopped for a week. then worked. Then I threw it in the trash and bought a DELCO. No problem so far with that one.

In my opinion, "YES". I am totally discusted (sp) with any item distributed by Standard Motor Products. BWD is one of Standards brand names. Standard was a distributer/manufacturer of high quality parts, at one time. This is no longer the case, they keep "taking money out of the product". This increases thier bottom line, and decreases quality.

I had a ford that the ground from the engine to the frame was bad and that caused my relay to keep going bad. May not be your problem but after I fixed my engine ground,I had no more trouble
