This fixed my fog lights on a 2003 Saturn Vue. It was the only thing left to try and rectify my "not working" fog lights.

Asked on 3/12/2014 by Big Bar from Saranac N.Y.

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Hi Big Bar, tricky question! The common cause is an ignition fault. This will cause the engine to feel and sound "lumpy", and the power would be greatly reduced. The best way to find the cylinder which is responsible is quite simple but care must be taken. Firstly, find a proper pair of electricians insulated pliers, and even some decent rubber gloves if you can as well. Start the engine, and one at a time, use the pliers to remove a lead from the top of the engine one spark plug, if the engine almost stops, or gets worse in any way, it is not that piston which isn't firing. Repeat the process, one at a time, you will know which piston isn't firing when you remove the plug lead, and there is no change in the engine sound, this is your defective cylinder. Its just a case then of looking at the condition of the spark plug and assessing the cause of the misfire before carrying out repairs. However, there could be many reasons causing this. This needs a mechanic's expertise to determine. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

    • Q:

I have recently changed my fuel pump in my truck but when i try to crank it i have to continuously tap the gas..will this fuel relay solve my problem?
      Asked on 2/17/2014 by Vannah

      1 answer

      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

Hi Vannah, tricky question! There may be a loss of vacuum at the gasket between the intake manifold and the throttle body. The tapping of the gas suggests a slow response involving air flow. It’s like your flooding the throttle body with too much gas and not enough air. The MAP controls air flow, but if something were wrong it would throw a code. However, the answer to that is perhaps a bit more complicated than you think. This may need a mechanic’s expertise to determine. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.
