Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Oil Pressure Switch:

    Works great but don't last.
I have replaced it twice in 2 years on a vehicle that gets casual use. The first one went from normal oil pressure to zero in seconds about giving me a heart attack. Thank god I was home at the time.
The second failure it was reading about half of what the true pressure was.

My 2000 Grand Cherokee's oil pressure guage dropped to zero at idle. It didn't show signs of stalling so I figured it was the oil pressure switch. Bought this one at a reasonible price and it fixed the problem. Easy to replace old and install new. Highly recommend.

The oil pressure sending unit controls the oil pressure light or gauge depending on what a car is equipped with. Both the BWD Part No. S4191 and the Omix-Ada Part No. 17219.12 oil pressure sending units are exact fit for your 2000 jeep Cherokee 4.0l.

If your oil pressure is remaining that high, I would suggest having it checked with a manual pressure gauge to see if the reading is accurate. It sounds to me as if you might have a bad oil sending unit. If the oil pressure sending unit is good, check the oil pressure relief valve. It may be stuck closed resulting in high pressure reading.
