BWD = Borg-Warner, an OEM parts supplier.

Price with online promo code was right.

Fixed idle speed interrmittent low oil pressure warning light flicker.

Has pipe thread sealant applied, no need to add more.

For removal & installation, requires special internally modified 1.062" socket to clear electrical connector.

Before installing sensor, check that Chrysler electrical harness plug fits & the double lock connector works, my second safty lock didn't work, but one lock was good enough, plug is on secure!!!!

I had an intermittent oil pressure light on my 2005 Dodge Caravan and discovered that it is a frequent problem on that vehicle. I replaced it with the BWD S4178 and the problem immediately continued. I tried a Duralast part and it worked perfectly.

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Oil Pressure Light Switch:

The unit looks different than the OEM unit - my OEM unit was all black, including the the plastic electrical connector and the threaded end. The new one has a white plastic connector and chrome threaded end. No big deal. Fits well, and the electrical connector slides right on. Be sure to put some nylon tape or thread sealer on the threads before installing the new unit. That is the reason I was replacing my - the unit still worker, but it was leaking oil. The new one has metal threads vs. the OEM plastic threads, so I expect it will last longer.

Resolved problem with erroneous oil indications. Had to purchase a deep socket to replace oil sending unit that cost more that the part but only by 3 dollars. $28 total for part and socket, but that beats $120 at a garage. Two weeks use, seems fine so far.

Hi TY, glad to help you! The engine oil pressure switch is located on the right side rear of the engine block. The switch screws into the engine main oil gallery. To get more specific information on the location of this part I would recommend purchasing a Chilton or Haynes Repair Manual for your vehicle, not only will it show the location and also explain how to install, but you'll find it handy for many more projects on your vehicle. The repair manual part number is 25035.

Hello Scott I will be happy to help you with your question. With removal you do often need a special oil pressure switch socket; most deep well sockets are not deep enough and will damage the connector. Generally for installation you can use an open ended box wrench.

I'm happy to help, Scott the Tech! From my research, this BWD Engine Oil Pressure Switch (Part No. S4178P) will utilize a 1-1/16" 6 sided deep well socket. This is roughly 27mm. This switch fits multiple Chrysler, Dodge, Eagle, Jeep, Mitsubishi, Plymouth and Volkswagen from 1996-2010.
