IAC Valve doesn't work on Sable / Taurus ... Be careful

By

from Frederick, MD

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Idle Air Control Valve:

You gotta be careful with this valve, it may be the correct replacement; however, make sure to check the factory valve for a spring. If it has a spring, it's the correct replacement, if it doesn't have a spring, save your money and get a motorcraft oem replacment. I cannot tell you how much hassle this was to discover. Wrong valve will cause rough low idle, and high idle sticking while driving.

The product was very easy to install, which was incredible. Women who are looking to save on mechanic fees would not have any problems replacing this part. I compare the install to hanging a picture.

Car would die when letting off the gas. Re-start easily, but would die or act like a bad miss at times. The new idle control valve fixed it!

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Idle Air Control Valve:

Replaced an OEM part that would intermittently cause a low idle after a hot restart. This new part functioned for one day then idled at 2200RPMs from a normal 750RPMs. I have a new driver sharing this car and would hate to think of the consequences of her faced with a car that will do 55 MPH without touching the gas pedal. This part is slightly larger than the OEM part and required some stress on the factory wire harness to connect it. Not sure if this was a factor but I was not taking chances. Replaced with a new factory OEM part.

on '05 Taurus that appears like throttle gets stuck at intermittent speeds. Kicking pedal will normally release, but not always. No hangup in throttle/cable assembly that's been lubricated & intake system completely cleaned for carbon/shellac buildup. This has been a suggested replacement part...?
