Easy to install on my 2000 Silverado. The original AC Delco lasted 13 years. This one lasted barely 9 months. If you need an inexpensive quick fix, then this part is fine; but I'm not going to be replacing this part every year when I expect it to last several years. Next one will be OEM original. I'll pay more for one OEM that'll last 10 yrs versus several inexpensive resistors that will cost triple in duplicate part replacement costs and wasted time.

Blower motor is OEM (AC Delco) and was checked for proper current/voltage measurements; so that is not the reason this low cost part did not last.

Comments about BWD HVAC Blower Motor Resistor:

There are Two different resistors with two different part numbers for this item that fits Cheverolets. Part #RU1064 & RU1264. As Some people seem to have trouble getting the right one. Although, I've put in two of these in the past three months. They'll fix the problem but don't last very long

Mounting footprint does not match factory. I was able to use this part only after drilling new mounting holes in the fan box. Would not recommend if you are looking for an exact replacement part.

Blower did not work on #1. My Wife is po'ed I didnt do this a long time ago. Truth is I was fliping thru youtube and saw how to do it. To make matters worse I didn't know there was a AC filter there, 14 years later I installed a new filter and it blows twice as hard. Dua!I feel so dumb.

This fixed one of the most common HVAC proplems in the GM Vehicles. Seems like every truck I have (6) has had to have it replaced at one time or another, because of fan speeds only working on high. Good as new once again

The parts did not fit. This was for my 2005 Chevy Suburban. The web site only offered one option for my vechicle. Ordered online went to store to pick up brought old one with and found out it was the wrong part. Had to order the right part as it was not in stock. The store was helpul but did not want to honor the 20% discount that you can get by ordering online. They did after I said I'd go to another parts store. Glad i was able to go to the store and pick it up and not hae to deal with shiipping. I will not use this web site again to order parts

States that it is an exact match for 2006 silverado. It does not match up to the factory fitting. I had to drill hole into my dash and screw in with a large screw. Advanced does not accept electrical returns so I have it mounted with electrical tape. Very Unhappy customer

Hi Dawg, great question! The blower motor resistor should be the possible cause of the problem on your vehicle. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not solve or be the problem.

My 2002 Z71 Tahoe has front and rear blower motors. Does the rear blower have a separate resistor and if so, Where? The front works on all speeds and the rear blower works sometimes so I figure the motor is still good. Please Help.

With reference to this BWD Blower Motor Resistor - part# RU1064, the problem could be a faulty rear blower motor or resistor on your Tahoe. You will need check the fuse for this circuit first. It is in the under hood fuse block FUSE - RR HVAC 30 AMP and there is another fuse in the L. instrument panel fuse block for the switch FUSE IGN 3 -10 AMP. Test these with a 12 volt test lamp or a volt meter. Next you will need to access the blower motor and test for voltage at the motor and the resistor. I have an 05 chevy suburban 5.3l v8 flex fuel.
Would this part cause the rear blower not to function? If so this looks different from the one on the truck not. The one I have has 2 plugs and the plug for the motor is between them. Would this still be the proper part?

                            A:

Yes, this BWD Blower Motor Resistor(Part No. RU1064) fits your 2005 Chevy Suburban 5.3L V8. Symptoms of a Bad Blower Motor Resistor: Intermittent Operation: When the resister of the blower motor starts to fail, the motor operates only intermittently. This often presents itself as the blower fan not kicking on until the engine is producing a certain level of electric current. The higher current can make the jump across the resistor contacts that are going bad and get the blower motor to engage. The blower motor could stop working again on longer road trips when the car is at a cruising speed and the electrical current of the motor drops again. No Lower Settings: The lower settings of the blower motor require less electrical current to engage. But when the resistor of the blower motor is failing, it creates a larger gap between the connectors. This gap may be too far for the electric current to travel across. When this happens, the lower settings of the blower motor aren't able to function. The top setting of the blower motor may still be operational. Reduced Air Movement: Reduced airflow is when the blower motor is trying to move air through the vents but the resistor isn't sending enough power to move the air with much pressure. The blower motor resistor is receiving power but not the full force. Reduced air movement can occur at all of the different speed settings of the motor blower. Depending on how much resistor is still functioning, the reduced airflow could be an intermittent problem.
