This BWD Vapor Canister Filter (Part No. EC224) is an exact fit for your 2001 Cadillac Seville. When your fuel (gas) expands it builds pressure inside your gas tank. There is a fuel line that runs to your Charcoal canister and the gas fumes are pushed through the canister. The charcoal sucks up the bad part of the fumes and stores them in the charcoal. As you are driving a valve is turned and now the reverse happens. Canister filter filters the fumes coming from the tank to be burnt over again. Fresh air is pulled through the canister where it picks up the gas fumes and then is pulled into your intake manifold where it goes into the engine and is burned up and comes out the tailpipe as CO2 and Water Vapor (in a perfectly clean burning engine). Key items to having your Canister work properly: a good gas cap screwed on properly and no leaks in those vapor lines. For any further assistance, please feel free to call us at 1-877-238-2623 or visit your nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our representatives would be more than happy to assist you.Q:

A:
Open the hood and locate the charcoal canister, usually mounted on the inner fender pan close to the radiator in the engine compartment. Remove the canister from the holder or bracket and turn it upside down. Remove and discard the fiberglass filter, which resembles a large powder puff. Be careful not to tear the new filter when installing it. Replace the canister in the bracket or holder.
