My truck started up fine in the mornings, but after it warmed up or had been sitting in the heat all day, it would have to crank a few seconds or even had to give it some gas to fire up. Replace numerous parts before I got to this one. Took less than 10 mins to install and wah-la, PROBLEM SOLVED. I suggest if you have similar problems to start with this. If you pull the vacuum hose off and it leaks any fuel at all, then it's no good and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps.

Bought this as restoring 2003 Impala with over 160,000 miles with all original equipment. It does work and was fairly easy to install but would not hold fuel pressure after vehicle shut down and fuel would bleed down. My specs call for 50 to lbs of pressure while running and to hold at 40 lbs in a static hold after engine shut down. pressure bleed out after 10 minutes and then had hard time starting up again till line built up pressure again. Very annoying. Went to original AC/Delco and problems were solved. Held static pressure above 40 lbs for several days and was easy to start. I will go for AC Delco for all original parts needs even if I have to pay more. Even sparkplugs went for AC/Delco as other brand did not last long. For GM recommend AC/Delco for all.

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Fuel Pressure Regulator:

Great product at a great price. Easy to install, just make sure you have the right tools. You will need a snap ring tool for sure on a 01 Buick Regal. There is not enough clearance for needle nose pliers or anything else. Be careful to bleed the pressure first as well, or you will have a geyser of gasoline shooting up at your face like I did.

Hummed a little bit after installation, but has quieted down since then. Starting strong 6 months later.

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Fuel Pressure Regulator:

It worked great for about 2 months then the hard to start when warm symptom returned. checked vacuum hose and it was leaking again. buy the OE style more expensive one and you will be happy long term
This unit also made a ringing sound every time the temperature was below 60 degrees F. It was kind of annoying but you get used to it.

Bought product after the vacuum hose split at connection to the regulator and gas leaked. I assumed the "w/vacuum hose" in description meant it came with the hose, however it did not. Cannot find this part anywhere.

Hi Beto, glad to help you! The fuel pressure regulator should be located in the fuel pump assembly in the gas tank, in your trunk under the mat. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.

Hi, good question! The fuel pressure regulator on your GMC Sierra woud be mounted in the center of the fuel bar on the driver's side of the engine. Some of the signs of bad fuel pressure regulator are: Degraded spark plugs, cold start stalling, black smoke, decreased mileage, smelling fuel in the oil system. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not solve or be the problem.
