Comments about BWD Fuel Pressure Regulator:

Bought this to fix faulty fuel pressure on my 1997 Chevy K1500 with central fuel injection. Getting to the part was harder than installing it. I had to take the plastic upper intake manifold off to access the regulator. The part swapped in with no effort! Got it all back together and checked the fuel pressure and it brought everything back to spec. Great part with a great fit!

Hello Jayz, I will be happy to answer your question! According to the research we did the fuel pressure regulator is located under the upper intake manifold plenum. We suggest purchasing a Haynes or Chiltons manual Part No 24081 for the repair procedure.

Hi Mrsautorepair, glad to assist you! The fuel pressure regulator is located under the upper intake that has hoses going to each injectors, looks like a spider. You will have to remove the upper intake manifold assembly and remove the fuel pressure regulator retainer clip to pull and twist the fuel pressure regulator. To get more specific information on the location of this part I would recommend purchasing a Chilton or Haynes Repair Manual for your vehicle, not only will it show the location and also explain how to install, but you'll find it handy for many more projects on your vehicle.

HI CJ, glad to help! The fuel pressure regulator is located under the upper intake plenum. The black plastic cover that sits on top of the intake manifold. After removing this upper intake, the regulator will be on the back side of the fuel injector inlet housing. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.

With reference to your inquiry on the BWD Fuel Pressure Regulator -part# 23043, for testing the fuel pressure regulator locate and remove the cap on your vehicle's fuel pressure regulator. If you are uncertain about the regulator's location consult your owner's manual, but in general, find it by checking along your fuel rail. Fuel rails enter on the side of the vehicle where the fuel tank is located and are connected to all parts of the engine that need fuel. Fuel pressure regulators are the last thing in the engine to receive fuel before the rail exits the engine compartment. Rotate the key in the ignition to the on position without starting the vehicle. Attach the fuel pressure gauge to the threaded spot that appeared when you removed the regulator's cap. Record the reading on your fuel pressure gauge and compare it with the proper pressure for your vehicle. Consult your manual for proper readings. Turn the engine on and recheck the reading on the gauge. Locate the throttle and engage it. The reading on the gauge will rise about 5 psi unless your regulator is malfunctioning or your fuel filter is clogged. In this case you will see no change or a drop in psi. Locate the vacuum hose attached to your regulator. Remove the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator and inspect it to see if fuel is present. Replace the diaphragm if you observe fuel in it, as this is an indication that the present diaphragm has ruptured allowing fuel into the line. This fuel travels to your vehicle's intake system causing poor performance and thick black smoke. If your vehicle is low on fuel, it will naturally have low fuel pressure. Have at least half a tank of fuel before testing your fuel pressure regulator. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.
