Q:on a 1997 intrepid 3.5. where is the cam sensor located.
A:The cam sensor is located on the top of the timing cover, driver’s side of the vehicle (over the camshaft sprocket).
Q:Is this sensor responsible to distribute the spark to spark cables and spark plugs??? my car turns off when it gets wet due to rain or street little flooding
A:The ignition coil would be what provide the spark. It transforms the battery's 12 volts (6 volts in some older vehicles) to the thousands of volts (20 to 30 thousand volts or more) needed to spark the spark plugs.
Q:will this sensor stop my car from starting?
A:Possibly. With out the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it. We would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis.
A:Yes. It is tied to the crankshaft sensor, through the "ASD" relay(in the relay box under the hood). If either sensor fails, the "ASD" relay prevents the car from starting.
Q:location of sensor
A:For further assistance, please provide the year, make, model and engine size of your vehicle
