The blower motor used to only operate on the two highest speeds, so I replaced the resistor with this part. It now operates on all speeds as it should. This is a redesign from the factory part, so hopefully the flaws which caused the original resistor to fail have been corrected.

Easy to install on my 2000 Silverado. The original AC Delco lasted 13 years. This one lasted barely 9 months. If you need an inexpensive quick fix, then this part is fine; but I'm not going to be replacing this part every year when I expect it to last several years. Next one will be OEM original. I'll pay more for one OEM that'll last 10 yrs versus several inexpensive resistors that will cost triple in duplicate part replacement costs and wasted time.

Blower motor is OEM (AC Delco) and was checked for proper current/voltage measurements; so that is not the reason this low cost part did not last.

This is an exact replacement. Make sure you test your blower motors amp draw before installing a new resister and plug. If the amps are too high it will burn out the resistor and wiring connector. Change the motor if amps are above the nameplate on the motor.

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Blower Motor Resistor:

I bought this because it was listed as an exact fit for my 04 Suburban 1500 LS 4x2. Original part had a shroud that snapped on and was not compatible with this part. OEM part had the resistor angled and this one is straight so shroud would not fit. This part does not come with anything that will allow it to be mounted to existing holes unless OEM shroud was modified to fit this part. This part may work with other application but not 04 Suburban 1500 LS 4x2. Had to get the more expspensive part (RU1264) and it had the mounting holes built into it.

Comments about CARQUEST by BWD Blower Motor Resistor:

This was a perfect fit on my 2000 Chevy Tahoe LT 5.3L V8 4WD. This solved my problem of the the blower speed not working on settings 1 and 2 (I would only get air on settings 3, 4 and 5). A few notes: 1) On my Tahoe, this part is located under the glove box in the middle. 2) To get to this area, you must remove the housing under the glove box, and one of the screws to remove this housing is very difficult to get to. 3) To disconnect the smaller wiring harness, you must remove the cover to the blower, which is difficult due Chevy's screw placement. 4) This is NOT the part to buy if your hot/cold blender dial is not working (i.e. stuck on hot or cold.) 5) This is NOT the part to buy if the face/foot/defrost selector dial is not working.

As Some people seem to have trouble getting the right one. Although, I've put in two of these in the past three months. They'll fix the problem but don't last very long

With reference to this BWD Blower Motor Resistor - part# RU1064, the problem could be a faulty rear blower motor or resistor on your Tahoe. You will need check the fuse for this circuit first. It is in the under hood fuse block FUSE - RR HVAC 30 AMP and there is another fuse in the L. instrument panel fuse block for the switch FUSE IGN 3 -10 AMP. Test these with a 12 volt test lamp or a volt meter. Next you will need to access the blower motor and test for voltage at the motor and the resistor. Yes, this BWD Blower Motor Resistor(Part No. RU1064) fits your 2005 Chevy Suburban 5.3L V8. Symptoms of a Bad Blower Motor Resistor: Intermittent Operation: When the resister of the blower motor starts to fail, the motor operates only intermittently. This often presents itself as the blower fan not kicking on until the engine is producing a certain level of electric current. The higher current can make the jump across the resistor contacts that are going bad and get the blower motor to engage. The blower motor could stop working again on longer road trips when the car is at a cruising speed and the electrical current of the motor drops again. No Lower Settings: The lower settings of the blower motor require less electrical current to engage. But when the resistor of the blower motor is failing, it creates a larger gap between the connectors. This gap may be too far for the electric current to travel across. When this happens, the lower settings of the blower motor aren't able to function. The top setting of the blower motor may still be operational. Reduced Air Movement: Reduced airflow is when the blower motor is trying to move air through the vents but the resistor isn't sending enough power to move the air with much pressure. The blower motor resistor is receiving power but not the full force. Reduced air movement can occur at all of the different speed settings of the motor blower. Depending on how much resistor is still functioning, the reduced airflow could be an intermittent problem.
