The blower motor used to only operate on the two highest speeds, so I replaced the resistor with this part. It now operates on all speeds as it should. This is a redesign from the factory part, so hopefully the flaws which caused the original resistor to fail have been corrected.

Easy to install on my 2000 Silverado. The original AC Delco lasted 13 years. This one lasted barely 9 months. If you need an inexpensive quick fix, then this part is fine; but I'm not going to be replacing this part every year when I expect it to last several years. Next one will be OEM original. I'll pay more for one OEM that'll last 10 yrs versus several inexpensive resistors that will cost triple in duplicate part replacement costs and wasted time.

Blower motor is OEM (AC Delco) and was checked for proper current/voltage measurements; so that is not the reason this low cost part did not last.

Replaced the broken one and fixed the issue. My 05 Silverado 2500HD's AC would only work on speed 5 and no other speeds. Did a little research and heard people say this was my issue. All it takes is to remove (4) screws under the passenger side glove box replace the old resistor and all 5 speeds work now.

The manufacturer included a flyer inside the box in which the part came that said that the part may look different than the part that it replaced. It did look different, but it fit perfectly. The new blower resistor assembly made the fan control work the way it was when new -- all five speeds on the blower now work perfectly. Removing the cover on the blower fan unit (which is underneath the glove compartment) was easy. I'd suggest also replacing the cabin air filters at the same time -- they are just to the left of the resister unit.

I could not believe this was all that was wrong with my AC. I have been running with only the highest setting, freezing everyone in the truck. it took less than 10 minutes to take the old one out and put the new on in. Now the AC works on all settings and it makes it nice while driving now to have to adjust the temp to keep the ac running. the cost was less that just getting it looked at from a shop. This is easy enough that you don't need much auto knowledge to fix this problem. Save yourself over $100 and DIYS.

This is an exact replacement. Make sure you test your blower motors amp draw before installing a new resister and plug. If the amps are too high it will burn out the resistor and wiring connector. Change the motor if amps are above the nameplate on the motor.

However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not solve or be the problem.

With reference to this BWD Blower Motor Resistor - part# RU1064, the problem could be a faulty rear blower motor or resistor on your Tahoe. You will need check the fuse for this circuit first. It is in the under hood fuse block FUSE - RR HVAC 30 AMP and there is another fuse in the L. instrument panel fuse block for the switch FUSE IGN 3 -10 AMP. Test these with a 12 volt test lamp or a volt meter. Next you will need to access the blower motor and test for voltage at the motor and the resistor. I have an 05 chevy suburban 5.3l v8 flex fuel.
Would this part cause the rear blower not to function? If so this looks different from the one on the truck not. The one I have has 2 plugs and the plug for the motor is between them. Would this still be the proper part?

Yes, this BWD Blower Motor Resistor(Part No. RU1064) fits your 2005 Chevy Suburban 5.3L V8. Symptoms of a Bad Blower Motor Resistor: Intermittent Operation: When the resister of the blower motor starts to fail, the motor operates only intermittently. This often presents itself as the blower fan not kicking on until the engine is producing a certain level of electric current. The higher current can make the jump across the resistor contacts that are going bad and get the blower motor to engage. The blower motor could stop working again on longer road trips when the car is at a cruising speed and the electrical current of the motor drops again. No Lower Settings: The lower settings of the blower motor require less electrical current to engage. But when the resistor of the blower motor is failing, it creates a larger gap between the connectors. This gap may be too far for the electric current to travel across. When this happens, the lower settings of the blower motor aren't able to function. The top setting of the blower motor may still be operational. Reduced Air Movement: Reduced airflow is when the blower motor is trying to move air through the vents but the resistor isn't sending enough power to move the air with much pressure. The blower motor resistor is receiving power but not the full force. Reduced air movement can occur at all of the different speed settings of the motor blower. Depending on how much resistor is still functioning, the reduced airflow could be an intermittent problem.
