I used this to upgrade the alternator in my 1990 aerostar. I had the old 2G alternator with the bad charge plug. I did have to run a new charge cable from the alt. to the battery. Make sure to fuse that with 125A fuse. The regulator plug is a direct fit, as is bolt pattern, and pulley.

The original unit did not generate power (I suspect due to a grounded winding). Returned to store to obtain a new one. Attendant was extremely helpful - he confirmed that the alternator was bad and exchanged same for a new one. Installed second unit into car, which also failed to charge. Issue was found to be a discontinuity in the Voltage Regulator. Fearing that I would get another faulty alternator if I exchanged it, I ended up purchasing a new Voltage Regulator from RockAuto. The unit has been properly charging for about 1.5 months now. In retrospect, I should have just bought a new one from RockAuto and saved myself a few bucks!

Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 95 Amps:

Installed in 99 Ford Ranger V6. It failed after 17 mos and about 15K miles! Something in the voltage regulator was drawing current after the vehicle was shut off causing my battery to go dead overnight. Advance checked it but came out good but noticed draw on battery when veh was off. I hooked up meter, pulled fuses one by one and when voltage reg fuse pulled draw dropped to 0! Advance replaced it free...we'll see how long this one lasts. Next time, new part...no rebuilt for me!

alternator has worked very well since installment; only thing that was different is where the battery wire hooks up. replacement didn't have the stud extension like factory unit. was not the difficult to install.

Hi G, glad to assist you! This part comes with a limited lifetime replacement warranty. The limited lifetime warranty part can be refunded for cash/credit within the 90 days time frame. After that time expires, it can only be exchanged for a new item. So the warranty is valid for the life of the part as long as the customer owns the vehicle.

It depends on how much more amps. In the long run, yes. Your Alternator should put out a max of 13.5 - 14.7volts. From that, you can figure out the amps.
