Comments about CARQUEST Alternator - Remanufactured - 94 Amps:

I thought I would bump up my alternator on my 87 GMC plow truck from 78 to 94 amps since it was having a hard time keeping up with all the extra electrical draw. According to the parts catalog it was an exact replacement but when I went to install it I noticed it was different from the 78 amp alternator and now checking the pictures I see the difference.
After looking at it I noticed the front and back of the case were just turned 180 deg. so it was an easy fix.
If you do this just be careful of the springs and magnets inside. You should be able to just undo the 4 bolts and twist it, if you can't then be prepared for a fight. To put it back together I used a small Allen wrench to press down the springs and magnets through a hole in the back when putting it back together.

So far it seems to be working fine, things are not bogging down like they were before when I had multiple things running.

            A:

No, it will not affect the computer or over charging of the battery. You can use the higher output alternator for the enhancement in your vehicle.
